A two month gap between rounds 2 and 3 of the 2011 Bosch Australian Rally Championship has allowed Mark Butcher and the Driver Skills Australia/Britz Motorsport team to return home to Tassie and compete in a local round of the Tasmanian Rally Series this weekend.
Driving the well recognised black Subaru WRX, the team are very pleased to be sitting in 6th outright in the Australian Championship and see this weekend as an opportunity to test the car and sharpen some skills.
“Its great to be home for a local event after competing in WA and QLD this year. We have had little technical issues with the car so this weekend we plan to test the car and isolate any bugs that have slowed us down. We are looking forward to SA in 6 weeks time and want to be more competitive then we have been. The car has potential – we just need to maximise it and get all of our ducks in a row” said driver Mark Butcher.
The team have had to fit a turbo restrictor to the car to comply with the local rules – but feel that it wont make too much difference to the outright power. With the new motor currently producing enough power for what will be a wet and possibly snowy rally.
“I have been lucky enough to rally on some snow stages before – and there is a chance we will see some more this weekend. This is really a unique experience and I cant wait” said Mark.
The co-driver seat will be occupied by 2010 co-driver Nicole Bryan.
The event commences on Saturday June 11 at the North West Kart Club, Ridgley Highway, Highclere at around 9am.
