Ironman legend, Guy Andrews, is the latest celebrity to enter this year’s Targa Tasmania. Andrews will pilot a Sherrin Motorsport BMW 120i with Graham Sedgewick calling the corners for him.

Andrews, who forged his reputation as one of the country’s best athletes through a distinguished career in Ironman, joins Hollywood star, Eric Bana, in Australia’s ultimate tarmac rally.

Andrews will compete in the new Rookie Rallye, designed specifically for those who have not competed in Targa Tasmania before.

The Rookie Rallye will be run over 17 stages, finishing in Hobart at the end of day two of the full Targa Tasmania. The section isn’t just for novices, with Australian rally great Ross Dunkerton making his Targa debut through the rookie event.

While not claiming Dunkerton’s experience, Andrew’s has some motorsport background.

The Queenslander competed in 2007 Rally Tasmania and has been in Formula 1 Celebrity Challenge races in the past. He is looking forward to his Targa Tasmania debut.

“I can’t wait to hit the Tassie roads,” Andrews said.

“I have heard so much about Targa and it has been a dream of mine to get down there.”

“Fun will be the number one priority, and I’m sure we will have plenty of that”

The 16th edition of Targa Tasmania starts in Launceston on April 17 and finishes six days later at Wrest Point, Hobart, on April 22.
