Despite tying with 2011 WRC Academy Winner Craig Breen (IRE) on 111 points at the end of the season and only being pipped to the title on a tie-breaker after leading the standings throughout the season, 2011 WRC Academy Runner-up Egon Kaur (EST) felt he’d earned his stripes when M-Sport gave him the opportunity to drive the Ford Fiesta RS WRC at Carlisle Airfield last Friday.

The young Estonian first sat in the car with 2011 Ford works drivers and Wales Rally GB winner Jari-Matti Latvala [pictured with Kaur] and after a quick introduction to the machine, took his turn behind the wheel.

Kaur was delighted with the opportunity and loved every minute:

“First I want to say thanks to M-Sport for this awesome opportunity, it was an incredible experience for me. It didn’t take me long to get used to the Ford Fiesta RS WRC, the handling was superb and I really enjoyed every minute of it.

"Jari-Matti introduced me to the car, showed me what it could do and then it was my turn to get behind the wheel. After a few corners I already felt like I never wanted to leave the car. I just hope that it wasn’t the last time I get my hands on such a great piece of machinery.”
