Lancia Stratos for Victorian rallying in 2018

Former Victorian Rally Champion, Peter Fyfe, will drive a Lancia Stratos replica similar to this Lister Bell version.

The Victorian rally scene is set to be given an injection of excitement with the likelihood of a Lancia Stratos competing next year.

Former Victorian Rally Champion, Peter Fyfe, is planning a return to the sport next year at the wheel of a Lister Bell Stratos replica.

The car is likely to be debuted in Targa High Country late in 2018.

“It is a full race spec kit which will be powered by an Alfa V6 producing over 400bhp through a Quaife 6-speed sequential box,” Fyfe told RallySport Magainze.

“It will have huge Aston Martin DB9 brakes and MCA custom suspension from my old mate Murray Coote, just to keep the Aussie content in there!”

Fyfe won the 1991 and 1992 Victorian Rally Championships at the wheel of a Nissan Pulsar GTiR.

The Lancia Stratos replica kit has arrived in Peter Fyfe’s Melbourne workshop.

Peter has been the editor of RallySport Magazine since its inception in 1989, in both printed and online form. He is a long-time competitor, event organiser and official, as well as working in the media.

Hmmmmm, perhaps the heading to the story is a bit misleading. A replica stratos with an Alfa Romeo engine is a bit like a Quattro with Subaru running gear.

Frank beat me to it – but YES, exactly my thoughts also! … Using a Factory 5 “818” chassis kit with this body on top, and powering it with a slightly modded Subaru flat 6 cylinder engine – running a pair of IDA down draft webers, a pair of special cams and headers, with the Subaru 5 speed behind it all… just imagine the sweet sound of those IDA webers and headers when hauling ass down the road! Who needs flat 4 Subaru turbo power when you can’t legally do over 100mph on the street? The flat 6 will make most excellent track day HP. .. all of it in a street legal, but yet still track day capable, Lancia Stratos replica! What fun that would be!
