ARC rookie Lewis Bates is in a race to make it to the start of the National Capital Rally after rolling on this morning’s shakedown stage.

Neither Bates nor co-driver, Anthony McLaughlin were injured, and although the damage to the front wheel drive Corolla looked only superficial, the car needed to be towed out of the stage.
The incident comes after Bates' unfortunate retirement from the first round of the ARC in March, where his Corolla burnt to the ground.
The two-day rally starts with a promotional ceremony tonight (Friday), before the rally action on Saturday and Sunday.
