Sebastien Loeb cruised to victory on the Cork ‘20’ International Rally at the weekend, leading home Citroen team mate Dani Sordo by two minutes, 21.5 seconds. Mark Higgins, in a Subaru WRC, finished third.
The rally decided the outcome of the Irish Tarmac Series, with fourth place enough for Eugene Donnelly and Paul Kiely (Subaru) to clinch their fourth successive title.
BP Ford World Rally Team driver, Mikko Hirvonen, was fastest on the last stage of the rally, and finished fifth after an early puncture cost him a podium place.
Citroen and Ford both contested the event as practise for the first ever Irish WRC round to be held from November 16 – 18.
