Driver Adrian Morrisby is rapt with the support given to his team.
“Being part of the LWR team will give us a massive pool of knowledge to draw on in the gruelling 6-day event, as well as the use of their fabulous rally facility in Launceston,” Morrisby said.
“Les and (his son) Blue Walkden have been a great support throughout my rallying career and I look forward to running under the LWR banner in 2008.”
The Maxboost Motorsport Team have been working overtime to prepare the team’s Marlboro Holden Dealer Team replica Gemini for this year’s event, with reliability being the key factor for the assault.
Team principle, Jon “Todt” Fitzgerald, has given the Gemini a full refurbish, including a new spec engine, new diff configuration and ratio, and full drivetrain freshen-up, as well an extravagant brake upgrade. It should see the car competitive in the Handicap Classic event.
The team’s gun co-driver, Dave French, has been busy checking the Vandenberg’s pacenotes and is confident that with some fine tuning they can push harder this year.
Easter will be spent doing the final recce run and the car will be ready for track testing and sponsor rides soon after that.
