Chris Atkinson’s former co-driver, Glenn Macneall, makes his return to international competition next weekend.

The Dunedin-based Australian will co-drive for Japanese driver Toshi Arai in the Hokkaido Rally, Japan’s round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship.

Macneall contested nine rounds of the WRC in 2001 with Arai, in a works Subaru Impreza World Rally Car, but for this event they will drive a Group N Impreza WRX.

The pair are seeded ninth in the event, behind the regular APRC runners, which is headed by Australians Cody Crocker and Ben Atkinson.

The winners of the previous two APRC rounds, the Aussies will again face competition from Katsu Taguchi and Mark Stacey (Lancer Evo 9), and Finland’s Jussi Valimaki and Jarkko Kalliolepo in the second MRT Tyres Lancer.
