“We’re going out there to win. It’s as simple as that.” Auto One rally driver Brad Markovic is determined for a top result at the Carringtons Traffic Services Safari around Chidlow and Mundaring this Saturday.
The Kalamunda local plans to set the pace for the event in his Maximum Motorsport-prepared Subaru WRX.
Markovic is still a chance to take out the 2015 WA Rally Championship but needs a win in the final round of the competition…. and a little luck.
He is third on the drivers’ table and needs current leader Garry Whittle to finish no higher than 12th in the event. Meanwhile, Rob Webber, who’s in second position, would need to finish no higher than third.
“I’m under no illusion this is going to be easy, but I’ve got a great team behind me and the best co-driver in WA by my side.”
In-car companion Glenn Macneall, a former Asia Pacific Rally Champion, is in striking distance of the WARC co-driver’s title. He is just seven points shy of the lead.
“It would be great to finish the year on a high,” Macneall said.
Markovic and Macneall, who are competing in their second season together, have continued to make improvement with every WARC event this year.
The pair dominated the last round, the Lewana Stages Rally around Kirup, claiming five out of six fastest stage times.
The Carringtons Traffic Services Safari celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and starts from Chidlow Oval at midday on Saturday.
