Plans are being made to move the start of Rally Mexico, round three of the 2017 world championship (9-12 March), to the country’s capital as part of the anniversary celebrations for the national revolution of 1917. Â
The concept is to hold a ceremonial start by the Monumento a la Revolution and have a route for the cars along the Paseo de la Reforma. Â
The cars will then be transported the 400km to Leon and crews taken there by chartered aircraft so they can sleep, ready for the orthodox rally to start in the morning. Â
Rally Director Patrick Suberville said the proposals will be discussed when he meets the teams and the FIA in Monte Carlo and they are not confirmed yet. Â - Martin Holmes
