M-Sport boss, Rich Millener says that he and his team are fully behind Kiwi, Hayden Paddon, after his pre-Finland crash, and didn’t rule out the possibility of him making a WRC return for the team as early as the next round in Germany.

“We looked at all the options (after the crash). We spent three hours on the phone with various people trying to come up with a plan,” Millener said of the team’s efforts to get a car for Paddon.

“Finland is one of those rallies which is too far away from the UK to do anything.

“He’s gone back to New Zealand to try and speak to his partners again and hopefully there will be something we can manage to do in the future,” he added.

Speaking on the WRC All Live set, Millener was asked directly whether there would be a spot for Paddon in the second Fiesta if injured Welshman, Elfyn Evans could not overcome his injury in time.

“There’s lots of opportunities and possibilities out there,” he explained.

“Our goal is getting Elfyn back in the car, because that’s what we signed up for.

“If for some reason we can’t do it, then we’d have to consider our options, and there’s obviously a few drivers. Gus is here. Hayden’s too. And I’m sure there’s some other drivers out there.

“I wouldn’t like to put too much speculation on what we’d do, and I wouldn’t want to say anything that would upset or excite any drivers.

“I think we take it one rally at a time at the moment,” he concluded.
