Molly Taylor has clinched her first Australian Rally Championship title after clinching the F16 crown at the Great Lakes Rally on the NSW north coast.
Driving her Mitsubishi Mirage with Dale Moscatt calling the pacenotes, the 19-year old star-of-the-future finished the day in 17th position – the first two-wheel drive car home on the shortened first Heat of the event.
“It’s a great feeling,” she said this afternoon. “We had a flat tyre and hit a bank today, but apart from that it all went well and I’m really looking forward to the stages tomorrow.”
Molly’s mother, Coral Taylor, finished the day in fifth place, co-driving for Toyota’s Neal Bates. The proud mother was all smiles at the end of the day after she heard of her daughter’s success.
