A helicopter owned by former World Rally Champion, Colin McRae, has crashed near his home in Lanark, Scotland, killing all on board.

It is still unclear exactly who was onboard the helicopter, and no formal identification has yet been made. It is understood that McRae, his son and another adult and child, were onboard at the time of the crash, however McRae's wife, Alison, and daughter, were not onboard.

The accident is believed to have happened around 4.15pm Saturday afternoon (UK time).

McRae's agent, Jean-Eric Freudiger, has confirmed McRae was to have been flying the helicopter at the time of the accident.
