Subaru do Motorsport including Australian Rally Champions, Molly Taylor and Bill Hayes has driven the Production Rally Car (PRC) class All-Wheel Drive WRX STI to victory in round three of the Tasmania Rally Championship.

The pair won the event last year and started the rally as favourites, but encountered strong opposition from local stars Craig Brooks (WRX STI) and Eddie Maguire (Lancer Evo).

The Mountain Stages Rally offered up four competitive stages run in the morning, and then again in the afternoon, and Taylor started the day in consistent form.

She was second on all four of the opening stages to take a lead that she would never relinquish.

During the afternoon’s second running of the stages she upped her pace, winning stages five, six and seven, before bringing the Subaru do Motorsport WRX STI home in first place.

“It was a fantastic day and it was great to be back behind the wheel of the Subaru do Motorsport WRX STI,” Taylor said.

“With such a long break in the ARC, it was important to get more time in the car and to test a few things before the next rally in South Australia.

“The event in Tasmania is always a favourite on some incredible roads, and to win an event sponsored by Les Walkden Rallying makes it even more satisfying,” she said.

Taylor and Hayes currently sit in second place in the CAMS Australian Rally Championship - just three points behind leader, Harry Bates with two rounds still remaining.

The championship returns in mid-September with Lightforce Rally SA, based in the picturesque Adelaide Hills.
