Crowd favourite, Jack Monkhouse, appears likely to miss this year’s Australian Rally Championship because of a lack of funds.

The South Australian has become one of the drivers to watch in recent years, thanks to his flamboyant driving style.

Monkhouse, who is a stunt driver for Team D-MAX, first burst on to the scene in a Datsun 180B, but has more recently thrilled fans in a Nissan Silvia S15.

“My plans are still very unsure,” Monkhouse told RallySport Mag.

“I have the S15 prepped and ready to go for season ’14, but not a single dollar to run it as yet.

“It’s not easy (to find a budget). This year is looking tougher again,” he said.

Monkhouse’s absence from the national championship would be a blow for promoters, as well as spectators. His “on the limit” driving style will be sorely missed if he’s forced to sit on the sidelines in 2014.

Another exciting driver, Will Orders, will also be absent from his home series, thanks to commitments to the Rally America Championship.
