More weekend rally news – April 4

First time out as a guest driver with the Saba team, Marcos Ligato won the FIA Codasur championship Trans Itapua in Paraguay, beating team chief Gustavo Saba.  

Marcos Ligato won the Trans Itapua Rally in a Skoda R5.Fabia R5s tok the top four places.  Like with Bruno Magalhaes in Azores, Ligato also won first time out driving a Skoda.

At the start of his eighth successive season as a Skoda driver, 41 year old Hungarian champion, Norbert Herczig, won the Rallye Miskolc, opening round of this year’s series.

In the French gravel championship Rallye Terre des Causses, three two-litre World Rally Cars took the top places.  

Jean-Marie Cuoq (Citroen C4 WRC) beat Julian Maurin’s Citroen DS3 WRC (by 5.9 seconds) and Lionel Baud’s Ford Focus WRC.

Oreca, the company contracted by the FIA as the single supplier of equipment for the new R4-Kit formula, state that their equipment is to be homologated on July 1st, with supply to customers to start in August.
