Australian co-driver, Dale Moscatt, has just returned from another rally in China, this time with Estonian driver Karl Kruuda. The pair piloted a Prodrive built Volkswagen Golf with a 2-litre turbocharged engine producing around 380 brake horsepower, and driven through a 6-speed X-Trac sequential gearbox. They had established a lead of four minutes before an alternator pulley came off on a road section just two stages from the finish of the event. According to Moscatt, the VW is incredibly fast, and a thrill to ride in. "Running at minimum 1200kg regulation in race trim. 0-100kph on tarmac puts your brain in the back of your head, top speed on tarmac around 230kph, to then stop it pops your eye balls out the front of your head. Built to the Chinese regulations she certainly hauls a~~," Moscatt said on social media this week. Australian Chris Atkinson also spoke about the impressive performance of the Prodrive built VWs in his recent interview on the Absolute Rally podcast.
