A huge field of entries has again been received for the Mt Buller Sprint tarmac rally, which will be run for the second time in 2006, on November 4, 5 and 6.

While favourites Jim Richards and Tony Quinn head the field in their Porsches, much interest will be taken in the battle between two of Australia’s best gravel rally drivers, Cody Crocker and Scott Pedder.

Crocker, the three-time Australian Champion and new Asia Pacific Champion, will drive his current Subaru Impreza WRX, in what will be his first experience of the event. So too will it be a new experience for Pedder, who will drive his 2006 ARC-spec Lancer Evo 9 as he aims to build on his tarmac rally experience.

Other big name drivers at the event will include Rick Bates in a Mazda 3, Brett Middleton (WRX), Glen Ridge (Mazda RX7), Jason White (Lamborghini), Spencer Lowndes (Mini), Tony Longhurst (WRX), Eli Evans (WRX), Grant Denyer (Mini), and former winner Rex Broadbent in a Porsche Carerra RS.

The Mt Buller Sprint will run over the Melbourne Cup long weekend in Victoria, and offers spectators plenty of opportunities to see the cars in action.
