NEC Australian Rally Championship driver John Murray Jnr has been named one of the finalists in Cleo Magazine's 2006 Bachelor of the Year competition.

The twenty-four year old, who races with co-driver Ben Searcy in a 1998 Subaru WRX Sti, recently joined the other finalists for an exclusive poolside Bachelor of the Year photo shoot, and attended the launch in Sydney.

"I know a few of the others who have been nominated, and they're mostly a really good bunch of guys" said Murray Jnr.

"There's maybe a couple of footy players who are taking it pretty seriously but the rest of us are just having a bit of fun with it,"  he said.

John, who currently sits 5th in the BP Ultimate Challenge points standings, said he had received several phone calls from his rallying mates when it was announced that he had made the final 50 in the national magazine's competition.

"A few of the guys have called and ribbed me about it . Jack Monkhouse and Will Orders couldn't stop laughing but they think it's pretty cool."

To vote for John visit the Cleo website at www.cleo.ninemsn.com.au. The winner of the 2006 Cleo Bachelor of the Year will be announced in Melbourne on September 14th.

John will then compete in the final round of the BP Ultimate Challenge at the NGK Rally of Melbourne on September 22- 24th.
