The entry list for this month’s Lightforce Rally SA has been released, with a pair of new-breed AP4 cars heading the list of cars contesting round four of the Australian Rally Championship. Multiple champions Eli Evans and Glen Weston will lead the 17-car ARC field away in their Mini Cooper AP4, a car that was debuted in Canberra in May. They’ll be followed by young gun Harry Bates and co-driver John McCarthy, in the debut event for Toyota’s brand new Yaris AP4 (pictured above) - a car to be launched in South Australia the day before the rally starts. (Listen to Harry Bates talk about the new Yaris AP4 HERE)

(Photo: Peter Whitten)The PRC-spec Mitsubishi of Nathan Quinn and new co-driver Ben Searcy are next up in their Lancer Evo 9, followed by reigning champs Molly Taylor and Bill Hayes in the factory Subaru WRX STI. Five Subaru WRXs follow, with Tony Sullens, then Brad Markovic, Craig Brooks, Andrew Penny and John O’Dowd, before the first two-wheel car in the ARC field, the Mazda RX7 of Adam Kaplan. At the front of the ARC field will be a five-car entry in what has been called the Australian Classic Rally Challenge. Local Matt Selley will start car one in his Escort, but most of the interest will be around world-renowned Irishman, Frank Kelly, who’ll pilot his famous “Baby Blue” Escort Mk2. Kelly contested April’s Otago Rally in New Zealand, and will be a big crowd puller in South Australia. The Rally SA field also includes 13 cars in the SA Rally Championship event, 11 in a new Intro Rally, and a further three in the Clubman Rally, with a combined entry of 49 cars. Based in the Barossa Valley around Mt Crawford forest, Lightforce Rally SA will run on September 16 and 17. Download the full entry list HERE.
