A number of new Cups will be awarded as part of the 2021 national rally season, alongside the outright Championship prize, encouraging more competitors to be part of next year’s RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship campaign.
Motorsport Australia has now released the 2021 Sporting & Technical Regulations, outlining the new Cups which include several new prizes.
In 2021, competitors will be battling it out for the following titles:
RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship (outright)
ARC 2WD Cup – for eligible 2WD vehicles, both front and rear wheel drive
White Wolf Constructions ARC Production Cup – for PRC vehicles
ARC Junior Cup – for those aged under 26 in front wheel drive vehicles
ARC Classic Cup – for eligible classic cars, including pre-1986 club rally cars
ARC Teams Cup – teams of three crews nominated before the end of documentation, with the best two results to count per event
The existing ARC Manufacturers’ Championship will also be awarded in 2021.
All cars competing across the Championship and Cups will be required to run on control Hoosier tyres.
The 2021 RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship will be held across six rounds with new Cups to feature alongside the outright Championship next year.
Motorsport Australia is also excited to confirm White Wolf Constructions has been confirmed as the naming rights partner for the ARC Production Cup.
Brand new in 2021, the White Wolf Constructions ARC Production Cup will be open to PRC vehicles, such as the Mitsubishi Evolution and Subaru WRX, but excludes the higher performance vehicles such as the AP4 and R5 spec rally cars.
Michael Smith, Motorsport Australia’s Director of Motorsport and Commercial Operations, said the new classes provided some exciting opportunities for a wide range of vehicles to compete.
“We’ve obviously had an enforced break from national level rallying and this has given us an opportunity to revisit the make up of the RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship, and we’re excited to be able to announce our plans now so competitors can now start working on their 2021 campaigns,” Smith said.
“Of course, all eyes will be on the outright Championship, which we expect to be fiercely contested next year, but these new Cups will allow people an opportunity to get involved in a number of events throughout the year, without having to commit to a full season.
“We’ve spent the past 12 months extensively consulting with the competitor group as well as our event organisers and we are certain 2021 will be a fantastic year of rallying that will see increased competitor numbers and some really exciting events.”
Aside from the outright Championship, the points tally for the Cups will be based on crews’ best four events, meaning they will not have to enter every round of the Championship to be eligible to win their respective Cup.
