The Melbourne-based company announced today that they are supporting the Pirtek Ford Rally Team this season, and according to Associate Director of Sales, Peter Hein, they hope to be involved in the Rally of Melbourne later this year.
“It would be nice for the team (Ford) to be in a position to challenge at the NGK Rally of Melbourne later in the year,” Hein said.
But a member of the Rally of Melbourne organizing committee told RallySport Magazine today that the event was still only a 50% chance of running later this year.
“NGK have confirmed that they will sponsor the event if it happens, but there are still some very important boxes that need to be ticked off before the event can get the go-ahead for this year,” the committee member said.
A decision on whether the event runs in 2007 is expected to be made by the end of February.
