NSW Classic Rally Car Challenge prizegiving

The winners of the 2007 NSW Classic Rally Car Challenge, Jeff David and John Doble, received their trophies from Ben Ruggles at the recent Classic and 2WD meeting in Gosford. 

As the Championship was sponsored by Ben Ruggles Motorsport and Silverstone Tyres, Jeff and John also received a set of four rally tyres as part of their prize.  Jeff thanked Ben for the tyres and also congratulated the NSW Classic Rally Car Club on running a very successful Classic Rally Championship in 2007. 

Wayne Bell was the guest speaker at the meeting and he spoke of the differences he has seen since coming back to rallying following a absence of 14 years.  He commented favorably on the way rallying is going today with the advent of AASA as a form of competition to the CAMS.  Bell believes that healthy competition is a good thing. When asked what his favourite rally was, Bell had no hesitation in nominating "The Southern Cross Rally".

Further discussion was had on the revival of an old Car Club with a view to running an event like the Alpine.  This discussion resulted in around 50 people being unanimous that this should go ahead.  Further news will be announced regarding these exciting plans following another NSW Classic Rally Car Club meeting to be held on the 8th March.
