Will Orders and Toni Feaver are focussed on fulfilling their potential as podium contenders as they prepare for round two of the 2007 Australian Rally Championship this weekend (April 28-29) at the QUIT Forest Rally in Western Australia.
The privateer outfit steering a Subaru Impreza STI are confident of bouncing back to top form after a frustrating opening round in Queensland. Despite the recent bout of teething problems encountered at the season opener, Orders and Feaver are looking at the positives that come out of the event and are using it as their preparation for the WA event.
“There were just a few too many silly things that happened at the last round,” said Orders.
“Because we’re a privateer team without the budget of the big heavy-hitters that we’re competing against, we had a few mechanical problems surface that come up from time to time. But we’ve done our best to put it all behind us, have learnt from it and moved on to compete strongly and make amends in WA.”
Despite currently sitting 15th on the championship ladder, the Victorian is still firmly focussed on his goal of capturing the privateer championship honours in what is his third season with Feaver. Putting behind the recent setbacks, Orders continues to be optimistic about their chances of their first podium result, even with their limited experience on the WA course.
“We had a really strong test session and we’ve made a number of improvements to the Subaru that will put us in strong contention this weekend,” said Orders.
“Toni and I are confident that it will bring us back to the front of the field.
“We’ve certainly been doing our homework to learn as much as possible, but all looks good for us. To be able to improve and continue to build on our form is what we’re concentrating on and we’re confident we’ll be able to keep moving forward in the championship stakes during the rest of the year.”
