The Hyundai i20 performance was put to the test when Austrailian Rally Champion Ed Ordynski got behind the wheel for a test drive from Sydney to Brisbane.

Ordynski and the 1.4 i20 Active model set out with only one tank of fuel (53.63 litres) to test the fuel consumption of the Hyundai.

Unbelievably Ordynski made it past Brisbane and ended up in the Queensland city of Bundaberg ! A staggering trip of 788 miles (1,269 km)!

"I was quite astonished. I originally thought Sydney to Brisbane on one tank seemed an impossible task, especially on the Pacific Highway but then the i20 just kept on going – far beyond our wildest expectations. It was a remarkable journey and a truly special result.”

When calculated that's an eco-friendly fuel economy of 66.78 mpg.

Mr. Oliver Man, Hyundai Motor, MD, Australia said

“The results of this economy challenge validate further the title of ECOcar Magazine’s 2010 Car of the Year, recently awarded to i20. Hyundai is committed to setting the pace for the auto industry when it comes to fuel economy and the intelligent application of cost-effective technologies. Our congratulations go to Ed - it really is great news for light car buyers.”
