Hyundai, in conjunction with Car Auctions Sydney, have invited Ordynski to compete at Lithgow.
The Rally of Lithgow will see Ordynski and navigator, Iain Stewart, team up with Hyundai’s “Excel Rally Team” to compete in Round 1 of the NSW State Championship on May 12.
Ordynski will drive the 2006 NSW Excel Series winning car that HMCA Regional Parts Manager, Mick Gillett, campaigned so successfully in 2006 to win the NSW Championship.
“We are very pleased to have Ed as the driver of our car, and while it will be somewhat different to the 4WD turbos that he has driven for over 20 years, we think that after the test day planned for late March he will find his feet pretty quickly,” Gillett said.
Ordynski is a major supporter of state and entry level rallying and sees the Excel series as a great initiative for the sport.
“Everyone tells me the Hyundais are fantastic to drive and the opportunity to compete in one is an essential part of my rally education – and my co-driver, Iain Stewart, did the whole WRC with Hyundai in 1997 and still raves about it!”
The new “one make” Hyundai Excel Rally Series will see rallying in Australia gain new popularity. The series concept started in NSW in 2005 and has since expanded to Victoria (2006), South Australia (2007) and in 2008 it will expand to Tasmania. All series run under the same basic rules in each state, allowing interstate competition and parity.
The Hyundai Excel Rally Team will continue to be supported in 2007 by Infomedia’s Microcat Market and Super Service Menu’s, Mobis Parts Australia, Performance Wheels, Lumen Australia, Eibach Suspension, Allianz Insurance, MRT Performance, Motographics, Cauldwell Auto Body Repairs and Hyundai Genuine Parts.
