In his first drive for the Walkinshaw Performance team, Scott Pedder has sent a loud message to his rivals, setting the fastest time in the qualifying run for this morning’s Power Stage at the National Capital Rally, round one of the Australian Rally Championship.

Pedder drove his Renault Clio R3 to a 1.2 second stage win over Eli Evans in his borrowed Volkswagen Polo Vivo, with Brendan Reeves a further 0.3 of a second back in third place.

It was a good start for the new factory Citroens, with Adrian Coppin and Tony Sullens finishing the stage in fourth and fifth place, albeit six and a half seconds off the pace of Pedder.

The final is to follow later this morning.
