The 3.23 kilometer Killarnée City of Perth Super Stage will be run as the final three stages of the event and with the outright winners often still to be determined at this point the action for spectators is set to be fantastic.
Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi says: “This will be a great attraction for the city, given the high level of public interest in motorsport in this State.
“The QUIT Targa West Tarmac Rally has gone from strength to strength. This year, city visitors will be able to witness the exciting concluding stages of the event.
“This is yet another example of the City of Perth, through its sponsorship, getting behind events that add activity and excitement to our State Capital.”
The course, which will run on Plain Street, Riverside Drive and Point Fraser Carpark, will showcase the City of Perth to a national audience with the city in the background and Swan River in the foreground.
“The Killarnée City of Perth Super Stage is going to be a fantastic inclusion to QUIT Targa West and the competitors are really looking forward to the opportunity to showcase their vehicles and skills to the people of Perth,” QUIT Targa West Clerk of Course Ross Tapper said.
“The last time cars competed through the streets of Perth was at the 2003 World Rally Championship round and I can’t wait to bring motorsport back to the heart of the city,” Tapper added.
Aside from the competitive stages the Killarnée City of Perth Super Stage will also include special displays from local car clubs, special interest vehicles, the Shannons Super Rig, the 96fm live team and even a professional paintball competition.
“The Killarnée City of Perth Super Stage is going to be a fitting conclusion to what is set to be one of the best years in the events history,” QUIT Targa West Event Director Bob Schrader said.
“Through the support of the City of Perth and Killarnée Civil & Concrete Contractors we have been able to plan a spectacular event which will provide something for every member of the family,” Schrader continued.
