Nathan Reeves overcame early turbo problems to win the first round of the Victorian Club Rally Series on Saturday.

With first-time co-driver Rhory Lyle reading the route chart, Reeves won the Rally Bonnie Doon by nearly a minute from the fast Datsun 1600 of Carl Stewart and Dean Price.

Ross and Scott Allan took third place in a Subaru Legacy RS Turbo.

The event was organised by the North Eastern Car Club, under the guidance of Rally Tasmania director, Scott Spedding. As the first event of the year for most, there was a large amount of attrition, with many drivers crashing or suffering mechanical problems.

Retirements included Geoff Portman, whose Commodore blew a diff, and Darryn Snooks, who suffered brake problems in his Datsun Stanza.
