The 2010 Queensland rally season kicked into gear and flung sideways with the hosting of the 2010 KCF1 Short Course Rally Benarkin.

A field of 28 cars battled the dirt, dust and fury of what the south-east Queensland forests could throw at them.

The dry and dusty conditions of Rally Benarkin put drivers and crews through their paces with an intensity of ever-changing conditions, from deep ruts to treacherous rocks and radiator blocking grass seeds.

The 22 kilometre long stage evolved from slow technical parts through to open limit speeds of 175-180km/h and onwards to an unrelenting and unforgivable snaking and winding course through State Forest Hoop Pine plantations.

The challenging and grueling conditions took its toll on teams with nine of the 28 teams not finishing.

Outright victory for the 2010 Rally Benarkin went to Matt Van Tuinen and Nathan Long in their Xmotion Subaru WRX STI.
