Kris Meeke visited New Zealand in the early 2000s, but his competition history in the country is bare thus far. That will change at the Otago Rally.
A veteran of more than 100 WRC starts, the popular Irishman is looking forward to his experience of New Zealand gravel in a strong car.
“I was here 21 or 22 years ago to spectator at Rally New Zealand. I actually took a week out to visit the South Island here,” Meeke said.
“I got the length of Queenstown, but never this far south (as Dunedin).
“I never got the chance to drive New Zealand roads and it was never in the championship when I was part of the World Championship so I’m happy to have an opportunity to come here and experience it.”
