Jack Monkhouse and Tom Ryan have taken out second placing in the classics at the International Rally of Queensland today after an action packed day.

“Once we knew that Neal had got past us we turned it on with some big scandos, and even overtook an escort in the 34km Speedie Contractors stage today” said Jack at the Podium, “Unfortunately we lost third gear towards the end of that stage, but our fantastic Team Datsun Australia crew got stuck into it at service and changed the gearbox in 25 mins, which enabled us to finish the final stage, and here we are on the Podium with a trophy”.

Ryan Smart and John McCarthy set some cracking stage times today including on the final Speedie Contractors stage, beating home half of the G2 2WD field.

“Jack and I had placed a bet for a 6-pack on the winner of this stage, I don’t back down to a challenge, especially from Jack. I guess he will just have to go thirsty tonight” Ryan said at the finish today.

The Team Datsun Australia satellite team of Mick and Laverene had a troubling start to the day loosing their brakes on the way out to the first stage, luckily the TDA mechanics had the car fixed quickly and Mick and Laverene were able to finish the gruelling event with grins from ear to ear.

Team Datsun Australia would like to thank Rallyschool for their help, Yandina Automotive, Mick Reynolds for his awesome photography, and all of the fans that were out their supporting the team.
