The reason for the hold up in Shakedown at Rally Chile was caused by an accident suffered by a police officer.
The officer who was riding his motorcycle on the live stage. It is believed he thought there had been a serious accident down the stage, which he should attend.
He fell off his bike when being passed by a rally car at speed, and himself became the cause of the disruption to the stage when he suffered a leg injury, requiring ambulance attendance.
The incident which he tried to attend was, in fact, Pedro Heller’s harmless off-road excursion.
The organisers are said to have declined responsibility.
