When the Australian and international rally circus hits Canberra in the first weekend of June, there will be one team to look out for, Team Price Rallysport.
Team Price Rallysport are a privateer team from Wagga Wagga who can’t wait to take on the roads in the 2007 Rally of Canberra.
Driver Dean Price (25), and new co-driver, Matt James (24), will compete in their Proton Satria, striving for class P2 honours.
This will be the first time Dean has driven in the Rally of Canberra, and he knows what it takes to finish after co-driving in the event for many years.
“It’s a rally that you just have to be patient with,” Price says.
In 2003, Dean made the transfer from co-driving to sitting in the driver’s seat and has competed in various state championship rounds in Victoria, NSW and the ACT, and even at the ARC round at Bathurst in 2005.
Matt James also brings a wealth of experience to the team with over five years of rallying as a co-driver, but this is his first ARC event.
”I couldn’t believe it when I was asked to join the team. I didn’t think twice about saying yes,” James said.
Over the past six months the car has undergone a maintenance overhaul, including a motor and gearbox rebuild, the addition of a limited slip differential, and attention to the steering and suspension components. This should make the Proton Satria a potent weapon in the forest.
The duo are both members of the Shoalhaven and Kiama District Car Club (SKDAC), and are looking forward to representing the South Coast and Wagga Wagga areas.
Team Price Rallysport are sponsored by Wagga Wagga Glass & Aluminium, Burson Autoparts, and Caltex on Fernleigh.
