Event manager, Scott Spedding, is delighted that the event has attracted a quality field.
“In the Classic car division and in the modern segment we have very strong fields,†Spedding said.
“Times are tough, and we’ve seen a number of events cancelled already this year, but once again we are seeing drivers attracted to the great roads of Tasmania and the compactness of our course.â€
Recent Classic Adelaide winner Kevin Weeks is out to add to his trophy collection for the year in his 1974 Porsche 911, but will face a big challenge from Brett Kay, driving a 1981 Mazda RX 7, and Roger Patterson in 1974 Porsche RS.
The modern cars will see Tony Longhurst, driving a Subaru, and local Burnie driver, Jamie Vandenberg, in a Mitsubishi, resuming the battle that saw them tie the Tasmanian Tarmac Challenge last October. But seven-time Bathurst winner, Jim Richards, thrives on the Tasmanian roads, and he will challenge the four-wheel drive cars in his Porsche GT2, particularly if it is dry.
