The father and son team of Andrew and Adrian Dillon have taken a 16 point led in the series going into Round 4, the Capricorn Resort Rally. The fight for second place is being tightly contested by four other competitors. The team of Matt Bailey and Andrew Lade are holding down second place by two points. Closely following in third place are the three crews of Dave Scott and Michelle Berardo, Jason van Paassen and Dirk van Holst Pellekaan and Al Reinekka and Teresa Daniels.
Matt Bailey and Andrew Lade have shown the most speed of any Excel so far during the season. But suffering mechanical issues during Round 2 and 3 at Rally Queensland hampered there assault on the top of the leader board. Andrew Dillon recently enlisted the help of the experienced Adrian Dillon to call the notes for rounds 2 and 3 which proved vital for the tough Rounds at Rally Queensland. The pair has been building their speed over the completed rounds of this season with this being Andrew’s first year in the driver’s seat.
Jason van Paassen and Dirk van Holst Pellekaan suffered mechanical issues during Round 2 splitting a brake line and losing all brakes. The pair recovered well to secure a hard fought second place during Round 3. Central Queensland team of Al Reinekka and Teresa Daniels made the long journey to compete and secured a consistent second place for Round 2 and was unlucky not to finish Round 3 suffering from mechanical issues in the final stage.
The fight will be on for what is turning out to be one of the most competitive years of the still young Performance Patio’s Queensland Excel Series. Round 4 the Capricorn Resort Rally is being held on 16 Jul 2011 at the Central Queensland town of Yeppoon. For more information on round 4 logon to www.cqmsc.com.au
