Young Queenslander rally driver, Ryan Williams, is on a mission to raise enough funds to compete in this year's Rally Finland. The 19-year old from rural south-east Queensland made his rallying debut last year and won the 2017 QRC Novice Championship, and also finished fifth outright in the 2017 Queensland Rally Championship.
"The opportunity came about at the end of the day's rallying of the P3 Solutions Rally Benarkin 2017," Williams told RallySport Magazine.
"The person who came up to me was hugely impressed with my speed and times throughout the day, and talked to me about if I would be interested in going over to Finland to compete. He had chosen a couple of other people from around Australia to organise to take over to Finland. "The car I will drive is not 100% confirmed yet, but my ambitions are to compete in a R2 spec car, but the more money raised, the more chance of being able to compete in the R2 car," he said. To fund his goal of competing in Finland's round of the World Rally Championship, Williams has set up a Go Fund Me page.
