2020 has thrown rallying another curveball, with Queensland's Manumbar Rally cancelled, but not because of Coronavirus. In a statement to competitors, Clerk of Course, Bradley Hurford, advised that the October 31 event was cancelled due to extreme fire danger. "(Because of) extreme fire danger and current weather conditions in the Gallangowan, Manumbar and Elginvale natural forest and more importantly plantation forest areas, the event is postponed until (hopefully), the first half of 2021," he said. "Whilst comment about potential storms and rain in the area have been taken on board, the fact that the country is in drought conditions has confirmed that fire is an extreme possibility and the Brisbane Sporting Car Club wish to ensure the absolute safety of the competitors and the 100+ officials, who give their time willingly to support our sport." Competitors entered in the event will have their entry fees refunded.
