Over 30 crews are set to take to the ceremonial start at the Woden Tradies club before heading off to battle it out on over a 140km of flat out rallying.
Up front will be multiple ACT champion John Stilling in his Renaissance Homes Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9, but hot on his heels will be young rising Canberra driver Tristan Kent in his older but just a quick Evo 3.
The opening round saw the young 18yr old taking the fight to his more experienced competitor’s constantly placing times in the top 3 and finishing 2nd outright, “i was very happy with the outcome of the event despite some mechanical gremlins, and there is room to improve” Kent said.
Also set to make a return to the forests for the first time this year is ever experienced Peter Taylor along with defending Gold Cup Navigator Kim Martin in there Ex Neal Bates Toyota Corolla.
A little further down the field the competition is just as fierce with the Better Bathrooms clubman championship also being hotly contested. Quirxs Motorsports driver Mike Behnke narrowly leads the Total Traction Services Hyundai Excel of Adrian Coppin with both drivers constantly featuring in the top 10 times despite only being 1.6L cars.
“The rally is going to be a real test of car and driver” Clerk of Course Aaron Tams said. The action getrs under way from 10am this Saturday morning, with cars being on display from 8am.
