After a gap of 10 years, Indonesia is back as an FIA championship rally (27-28 July), returning as a APRC qualifying round as an Asia Cup event.
In 1996 and 1997, Indonesia was a round of the WRC, both times won by Carlos Sainz in a Ford Escort WRC, and until 2009 was a round of the Asia Pacific championship.
Plans to run an APRC event in Indonesia in 2010 were cancelled.
Rally Indonesia stays in Sumatra using plantation stages to the south-east of Medan, characterised with countless right angled bends, intensely hot and humid weather and surfaces which can radically change.
