Australian company, RallySafe, has secured the contract to supply units to the World Rally Championship for the next five years, starting in 2018.
The Tasmanian product, founded under parent company Status Awareness Systems in early 2010, provide units which are widely regarded as the best in the world.
The units provide timing, live tracking, and most importantly, safety to rally crews in the event of an accident.
The FIA released a statement late this week which read:
“Following a call for Expressions of Interest, the FIA is pleased to confirm that Status Awareness Systems (SAS) has been selected to provide timing, tracking and connectivity solutions for the 2018-2022 FIA World Rally Championship seasons.
‘RallySafe’ is an advanced rally management platform incorporating state-of-the-art technology harnessed specifically to improve competitor and spectator safety, provide live feedback to rally control, and integrate competition timing and results.
SAS is the largest provider of rally safety, timing and tracking services worldwide and runs over 100 events in more than 15 countries annually ranging from international championships to club organised events.”
