Entry level rallying in South Australia gets a boost this year, with Scouts Rally SA running an Introductory Rally as part of the final round of the East Coast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship.
With safety being a priority at every level of the sport, the event will be sponsored by the team at RallySafe, a Tasmanian company known for their innovative GPS timing and tracking equipment, and will be known as the RallySafe Introductory Rally presented by Scouts Rally SA.
Thanks to the support of RallySafe, each competitor in the RallySafe Introductory Rally presented by Scouts Rally SA will have a RallySafe timing and tracking unit and wiring loom fitted free of charge before competition.
This means that every entrant, regardless of category, will have access to the same level of tracking and the same safety benefits.
The RallySafe Introductory Rally presented by Scouts Rally SA is a great way for people new to the sport of rallying to experience it first hand.
The event will involve 4 hours of competition, and is open to competitors with uncaged cars. Timed to the minute, it will be an easy way to get started in the sport of rallying, on the same roads as the East Coast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship.
First entry for the event is South Australian Justin Friedrichs in his Datsun 1600, who returned to rallying after a long break at the second round of the South Australian Rally Championship, the Copyworld Walky 100 at Robertstown.
“The RallySafe Introductory Rally presented by Scouts Rally SA is a great new start for me, coming back to rallying after a long break” said Justin. “It is really pleasing to see that RallySafe is sponsoring the event, the extra layer of safety that technology provides is a massive bonus. Thank you very much to RallySafe and Scouts Rally SA for having our safety front of mind.”
Clerk of Course Ivar Stanelis was enthusiastic at welcoming a new generation of rally competitors to Scouts Rally SA. “It’s great to be able to support the development of the sport, and provide a pathway for new competitors. We have many spectators over the years who have joined the event and look forward to giving these competitors their first taste.”
The RallySafe Introductory Rally presented by Scouts Rally SA will be run on Sunday 25 October with the full Mount Crawford Forest special stage, followed by some tight and twisty forestry stages, and ending in front of the crowds at the Gawler Super Special Stage at the Gawler Showgrounds. Entry is just $200, and spaces are limited, so potential competitors are advised to get in before it’s too late!
