A rare piece of Australian Rally Championship memorabilia is being offered on internet auction site Ebay as part of the campaign to get tearaway WA rally duo Nic Box and Ash Ridden back on track in this year’s Bosch ARC.

The racesuit of five times Australian champion and multi Asia Pacific champion Ross Dunkerton is the Sparco suit he wore as part of the Ralliart team in 2005 and has been posted by the Allstar Garage Rally Team in a bid to raise funds following their massive crash at round two of the Bosch ARC, the recent Quit Forest Rally in WA.

Dunkerton’s custom Mistubishi Ralliart Sparco suit was used in his clean sweep of the 2005 Australia Cup in the ARC and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.

Box and Ridden currently sit third in the Bosch ARC after two rounds despite the high speed crash in heat two at Nannup and are keen to be back for round three on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

The pair has been the surprise packet of the of the Bosch ARC this year, leading both at Rally Calder and in WA before bad luck or mishaps cost them the win.

Ash Ridden is sad to see the race suit go from his collection but believes the sale will assist the team in bouncing back for the International Rally of Queensland at the end of May.

“The accident at our home event has hit the team hard so we are trying to raise some dollars to get back on track for the 2012 Bosch Australian Rally Championship,” said Ridden.

“Nic has shown great form in the opening two rounds of the championship but luck has not been on our side.”

The piece goes under the virtual hammer Sunday, April 22 at 11:15 pm AEST.
