A classic finale is expected for the Raymond Partners Accountants Rally Team in Victoria’s round of the Australian Rally Championship, the NGK Rally of Melbourne.
Held in the scenic Yarra Valley, the event offers the Victorian crew of Glen and Matt Raymond, driving their Bendigo Bank Subaru Liberty, some of the best roads in the championship.
In their first year at Australian Championship level and in an all-wheel drive turbo vehicle, Glen and Matt have impressed opposition by running in the top ten in every round they have contested, including running as high as sixth in Tasmania, despite the aged machinery.
The lead up to the event has been full on for the team, with not only an engine and gearbox recondition, but newspaper articles and several radio interviews keeping the Raymond Partners team excited for their upcoming home event.
Held this weekend, the Rally of Melbourne offers a promotional start in Melbourne on Friday night, ramping up to the sideways rally action on Saturday and Sunday. It is centrally located at Yarra Glen, offering spectator points throughout the Yarra Valley, including spectacular viewing at the De Bortoli winery on Sunday.
The whole team is very excited about the prospects for their home rally and are looking forward to battling it out with the country’s best in their home state.
