Glen Raymond and Kate Catford have won the MRF Tyres Akademos Rally, a Victorian Championship round held yesterday. Driving a Subaru Impreza WRX, the pair won from the Mitsubishi Lancer of Warren Lee and David Lethlean. Grant Walker and Steph Richards were the first two-wheel drive competitors home in their Ford Escort, which also secured them the two-wheel drive championship after Luke Sytema went off the road, dropping 30 minutes. Ben Hayes (Subaru) was excluded from second place because of a speeding infringement, as was third placed Franco Liucci (Mitsubishi). Final results are still unavailable because of the on-going investigations into a number of breaches of the regulations that are currently being looked into by event stewards. The fully pace noted rally also saw an entry by Eli Evans and Ben Searcy in their AP4 Mini Cooper, although they retired with electrical problems.
