Entries for the Ypres Rally (June 23-25) have closed with 120 entries, of which 35 are for R5 cars, the greatest number ever for an orthodox rally.

R5 cars line up at the stary of the Ypres Rally in 2016.This event no longer counts for the European Rally Championship, but for the first time instead for the new TER series, while it is also a round of the British Rally Championship, the first time this series has a qualifying round outside the British Isles.

In complete contrast to the poor entry level for regular contenders for the old ERC in recent years, all the top drivers in the BRC have entered this event.

It is interesting to see the breakdown of marques represented in the R5 entry. There is only one Peugeot 208 T16 (for Kevin Abbring), three Hyundai i20 cars and four of the Peugeot associated Citroen DS3 cars.

All the others are either Ford Fiestas or Skoda Fabias.
