Brendan Reeves and Rhianon Smyth have completed their recce for Targa Tasmania and are looking forward to starting the event today.

After covering around 6,000 kilometres in the last few days, their reconaissance included writing pace notes for 39 stages of the event.

Reeves was very happy with their recce, and was especially pleased that they were able to cover some of the course in the rain.  With light showers forecast for today, and more showers predicted later in the week, it was a good opportunity to drive some of the roads in wet conditions.

Targa Tasmania commences this afternoon with a Prologue to be held in George Town.  The five kilometre street stage is used to determine the starting position of cars in the rally proper which gets underway on Wednesday.

"It is very important for us to have a good, fast run tomorrow and set up a good starting position for the rally," Reeves said.  "The stage will be quite tricky, with roundabouts and gutters to manoeuvre. We'll also be running on 'green' tyres so we will need to be really careful."

Reeves and Smyth will drive a Mazda 3 MPS backed by Mazda Motorsport in Targa Tasmania. The Mazda contingent includes Rick Bates, in another Mazda 3 MPS, and last year's Targa winner, Steve Glenney, in a Mazda RX8.
