Repco Rally Australia attracts international visitors

Around 70 rally fans from several countries and all over Australia will join the official Repco Rally Australia spectator tour run by Victorian-based RallySport Magazine.

With a long and successful history of conducting spectator tours to World Championship rallies, RallySport Magazine were appointed by Repco Rally Australia organisers to host the spectator tour for this year’s event. Tour co-ordinator, Carolyn Schonafinger, is delighted with the response.

“We have been taking spectators to Rally New Zealand for the past nine years as well as to Rally Australia when it was held in Perth,” she said. “The response to this year’s event, which will be held in northern NSW for the first time, is certainly the best we have ever had. Rally fans worldwide are excited about a WRC event returning to Australia and the new location has certainly added to the attraction.”

The tour will bring substantial benefits to the region as all services are being sourced locally.

“We have contracted a local bus company to transport the guests, we’ll use local Service Clubs for catering, and guests will stay at the Mantra on Salt Beach Resort for the week of the event,” Mrs. Schonafinger said.

“Whilst our guests will be in Australia primarily to watch Repco Rally Australia, we will make sure they get a good look at what northern NSW has to offer as a holiday destination, and hopefully they will return in the future.”

“On our three planning trips to northern NSW, we have experienced what a unique destination the Northern Rivers region is, and we look forward to showing it to our international and Australian guests.”

Bookings have been received from rally fans from as far away as Japan, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Britain and Ireland, with many of them staying on in the region after the event.

The rally tour itinerary includes visits to both coastal and inland locations, giving guests a glimpse of the diversity and natural beauty of the region. Time has also been allowed in the itinerary to sample the local cuisine, catch a few waves and partake in some retail therapy, should guests so desire.

The tour commences on Wednesday, September 2 when guests fly in from around the globe.
