Rhianon Gelsomino, one of only a handful of professional co-drivers from Australia, will contest the final two rounds of this year’s World Rally Championship. American-based Gelsomino has had a busy season rallying, mainly with Toyota USA, but the end of her year sees a variety of rides happening in the USA, Canada, UK and Australia with several different drivers and cars. This week she announced that she will be co-driving at WRC Wales Rally GB with Scottish driver, John MacCrone, in a Dom Buckley prepared Ford Fiesta R5. Rhianon contested four rounds of the Scottish Rally Championship with John in 2016, winning the Grampians Stages and can’t wait to get back in the R5 car and into the WRC. “To be back in the WRC is amazing, especially in an R5,” she told RallySport Magazine. “John and I had great success last year in the Scottish Championship and I am really looking forward to competing in Wales Rally GB for my second time. “John is already working hard studying videos of the stages. The team did a drive day with our great sponsors last week, Clik and Watermans, which was a wonderful success. “None of this would be possible without the hard work of Richard Moore, a great friend and backer of John for many years. “I am really looking forward to being back in the WRC for the first time this season and pushing hard in the Welsh stages.” Rhianon will then contest the season-ending Kennards Hire Rally Australia, alongside her brother, Brendan Reeves.
