Rhianon Smyth has returned home to Wedderburn after surgery on Monday, December 6 in the St John of God Hospital Ballarat, where she had a rod and screws removed from her right femur.
This surgery is one of the steps in the long road to Rhianon’s recovery from an accident at Rally South Australia in August 2009, where her legs were broken in nine places and rods were put in her right and left femurs and right tibia.
Rhianon will remain on crutches for two weeks and can then go back to full weight bearing on her legs and will have her staples removed on December 16. Â
Rhianon is hoping to have all the rods removed before she starts the WRC in 2011, but will see how she recovers from this surgery before she makes any decisions.
